Vernon C. Garden

Vernon C. Garden was born to the parentage of Willie Mae Cook and Edna Forge (Garden) on Aug. 28, 1952 in Groesbeck. He accepted Christ as his Lord and savior at an early age. He was a faithful member and served as a deacon at Union Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Elizabeth Harris Jones.
He received his education and graduated from Groesbeck High School and attended Jarvis Christian College. He worked at Mexia State School and Dick Scott Ford for many years.
He united in Holy Matrimony with Sharon Adams.
He loved playing dominoes and barbecuing for friends and family. He loved to have his family and friends come together and help others anyway he could.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sharon Adams Garden; daughters, Jernetha Adams, Carolyn Adams, Alice (Jimmie) West of Mexia, and Tawanna Thomas and Talasone Thomas of Wortham; son, Tim Thomas of Midland; three sisters, Jenne Cotton of Dallas, Ozealus (Peaches) Gardner of Mart, and Maycelle Coleman of Mexia; two brothers, Samuel Garden of Waco, and Fredrick Arnold of Hubbard; aunt, Leola Goode of Dallas; brothers-in-law, James Adams, Victor (Rita) Adams, Cedric (Juanita) Adams; sisters-in-law, Tina Adams and Veronica Adams; two very special friends, Deacon Joe Jones Jr. and Kelvin Beachum; 20 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Service will be held Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church of Mexia, 207 S. Denton.
Services entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home of Mexia.
