On Wednesday, Feb. 22, Leslie Ellen Howard Dolen went to be with the Lord, losing her battle with cancer.
A lifelong entertainer, Leslie enjoyed writing and telling stories to friends and family. She was also a talented actress, artist and singer with a deep understanding of the Bible. Her generous spirit edified friends and family alike.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; daughters, Elspeth and Gwyneth Dolen; parents, John and Ellen Howard; sisters, Adrienne McGill and Melanie Stratton; brothers-in-law, Brian McGill and Mike Stratton; Uncles, Charles Arnim, Lee Rothenberg and Ken Calura; Aunts, Jean Rothenberg, Marian Calura and Julia Arnim. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at First Baptist Church in Mexia with the Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brain McGill, Ben Calura, John McGill, Thad Matthews, Matthew Fletcher and David Tyner.
Flowers are encouraged as a tribute to Leslie.
