Randall was born to Garvin and Elna Rand Jan. 25, 1930 in the LaSalle community. Randall attended LaSalle Grammar School, until the family moved to Groesbeck, where he attended Groesbeck Grammar School and then attended Groesbeck High School until his graduation in 1947. Randall was an outstanding football player for the Groesbeck Goats and was football co-captain in 1945 and unanimous all-district in 1946. After graduation from GHS, Randall attended Tarleton State College 1947-1948 on a football and track scholarship, where he was the starting running back for Tarleton as a true freshman. However, his love for his high school sweetheart was more important to him than football.

Randall then started the rest of his life by marrying the love of this life and high school sweetheart Elizabeth Jane Browder on Aug. 6, 1948. Randall and Jane quickly started a family and before long had three sons, Doug, Don, and Ricky. The Rand’s started their life in Fort Worth and quickly moved to San Diego where Randall worked for Convair from 1955-1961. Upon moving back to Groesbeck, Randall and Jane opened their own business, Rand’s Phillips 66 and Rand Oil Company in 1961. The Rand family continues to operate Rand Oil Company today.

Randall was a tremendous athlete and a self taught “scratch” golfer in his early twenties. His closet is full of numerous first place amateur golf trophies and it was stated by many that had he had the opportunity to continuously work on his golf game, he could have made a living competing professionally in golf. He loved his Groesbeck Goats and Dallas Cowboys and was very proud of the fact that a member of his family represented the Groesbeck Goats in athletics for eight continuous decades, starting with him in the 40’s and still counting today. He was a business visionary and was responsible for numerous businesses locating in his hometown of Groesbeck.

He was a member of several organizations and has been supportive of many community projects and fund raisers. He has been a past president of the Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce and the Groesbeck Ex-Students Association. He was a Mason as well as a member of the Groesbeck Lions Club.

He has been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck for many years and has served that church in many capacities. Randall is also retired as a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers State Bank of Groesbeck where he served on the banks board for 31 years.

Jane and Randall were also original and continuous cast members of the long running “Groesbeck Red Stocking Follies”. One of their greatest loves was travel and they were fortunate enough to have literally traveled the world for many years with their traveling buddies, Martha and Tom Longbotham, as well as with their family and many others.

Pastor Arthur was licensed and ordained to preach in 1977. From that year on he preached with power for the next 39 years. He was known as a Holy Ghost preacher. Pastor Arthur preached on the radio, in tents, and in large venues. There was no holding back. His ministry even stretched across various denominational lines. Some of his most dynamic sermons were titled with one word like “If” and “Stuff.” He loved to encourage everyone through his messages. He would say God told me to preach hope to the people and preach hope into the people. Some of the memorable lines from his sermons were “Hold on to God’s unchanging hand,” “Don’t throw in the towel,” “Reach beyond the break,” “When you come to the end of your rope tie a knot in it and keep on holding on,” and “When life throws you a lemon take it and make lemonade.” Pastor always said that he would be translated when Jesus comes but despite his faith in being translated he succumbed to death. Now he will be apart of the first resurrection when Jesus comes.  As he always preached will be true; “Blessed and Holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection on such the second death has no power.”

Ima Lucille Rosson Burroughs, 95, of Weatherford, and formally of Mexia, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 8 at First United Methodist Church, 203 N. Canton, with the Reverend Brad Brittain officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wed. Dec, 7 at Blair Stubbs from 5-7 p.m.

Ima was born Aug. 26, 1921 in Mexia to W. C. and Eather Neisler Rosson. Ima lived all of her life in Mexia, until moving to Weatherford with her husband, Tad, in 2011 to be near their daughter, Emily Prowell. She was a retired telephone operator with Southwestern Bell for 30 years.

Ima met Calvin (Tad) Burroughs, the love of her life, in Mexia, in 1949, while he was employed with Southern Pacific Railroad. They were married Sept 5, 1952 in Mexia. They built a home on Hopkins St. in 1956 and lived there together for 55 years. Ima was very involved in the Methodist Church in Mexia, including the Parley Wiggins Women’s Circle and many other activities with the church. She and Tad were involved in the Adult Fellowship group at FUMC. Ima, also was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Las Amigas group, the Garden Club, and volunteer in the Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She and Tad loved to work in the yard and grow flowers, especially roses.

Ima loved people and loved to travel with Tad. After retirement, they were able to take several cruises with friends and took ballroom dancing lessons. Although Ima retired from Southwestern Bell, she never really stopped working. She became a bookkeeper for several years at Casual Fashions and also kept books at the First Methodist Preschool. She only retired from that job as she was in her 80’s at the time. Ima was a wonderful, caring Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. After moving to Weatherford, while at the assisted living center, she continued to be an encourager to those around her.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren while they were growing up. After the great-grandchildren came along, it was such a delight to get to see them over the last several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Calvin K. (Tad) Burroughs; sisters, Oleta Evans, Ina Bell Rosson, Mary Fleming, and infant brother, Willie C. and twin brother and sister, Melvin and Mildred Rosson.

Ima is survived by her daughter, Emily Prowell and husband, David of Weatherford; son Michael Burroughs and wife, Vicki, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Normand Burroughs and wife, Catherine, of Crofton, Md., Ben Prowell and wife, Jarryn, of Levelland and Sarah Davis and husband, Alex of Lubbock; four great-grandchildren, Alexa Burroughs and Emberly, Hudson and Preston Prowell; and many nieces and nephews.

Before moving to Weatherford, a special thanks to neighbors Bug and Joan Paschall, for their many, many acts of kindness. In Weatherford, members at South Main Church of Christ, and the Ladies Encouragement class treated Ima like she was one of their own.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Asst. living for the loving family environment they provided for the last 5 ½ years, the loving assistance of Visiting Physicians VPA, Weatherford Health Care, Kendrid Home Health and Hospice.
