Patricia June Roberts Smith

Funeral services for Patricia June Roberts Smith will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Teague. Bro. James Walker will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Wilson Chapel Cemetery near Donie.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Macon Thornton, Connor Craddock, Keegan Craddock; grandson-in-law, Pete Schouten; and nephews, Brian Roberts and Richard Farris, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Roberts, Asa Davidson, and Gary Holt.
Visitation will be held on Friday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Patricia June Roberts Smith was born on May 25, 1934, in the family home outside of Wortham to Elmer Haskell Roberts and Nona Lee Laningham. She was the eldest of six siblings and graduated from West Columbia High School in 1952. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in mathematics from East Texas State University in 1975 and her Master’s Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin University in 1982. Smith taught for many years in area high schools before culminating her teaching career at LCDC. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Teague. Following a liver transplant in 1991, she spent many hours volunteering for organ transplant organizations. Smith was known for her sweet kindness, her strong Christian faith and her powerful love of family. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and enjoyed many hours of genealogical study with her sister, Beverley, with whom she co-authored A Brief History of Wilson Chapel Cemetery.
June was preceded in death by both her parents as well as siblings Jimmie Richey, Sherell Roberts, and Kenneth Roberts.
She is survived by her beloved daughters Tanya Cerovski and husband Ed of Lubbock, Texas, and Kimberly Holt and husband Gary of Farrar, Texas; six grandchildren Katie Hancock of Mexia, Texas, Lindsay Schouten and husband Pete of Stephenville, Texas, Macon Thornton of Teague, and Connor Craddock, Keegan Craddock and Juliana Craddock of Burleson; five great-grandchildren Taelin and Kalaynie Hancock of Mexia and Kayson, Brayden, and Jameson Schouten of Stephenville; beloved brother Dennis Roberts and wife Carolyn of Dew, and sister Beverley Farris and husband Richard of Palestine; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and cherished hospice nurse and adored family friend Jerianne Morris Terry.
The family wishes to give many heartfelt thanks to Virginia’s Hospice and the caregivers at Teague Nursing Home.
