Billy Glen Holmes of Groesbeck passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple at the age of 60.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Mexia with Jimmy Cotton and the Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. The family is honoring Billy’s request to be cremated.
Urn bearers will be John Gilliam, Wade Wiley, Bobby DuBois, Atwell Goins, Sr., Atwell Goins, Jr., Clayton Goins, Lee Buford, Jackie Dillon, Billy Don York, Montey Cain, Kevin Painter, James Tennyson, Blair Carroll, Jesse Shaw, Mark Waddell, Chad Mizell, Ryan Campbell, Thomas Taylor, Steve Gilliam, and Kelly McReynolds.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Andrew J. Holmes (Sr) and Helen Holmes; maternal grandparents, Bill and Ella Mae Lummus; and his father, Andrew James Holmes, Sr.
Billy is survived by his wife, Charla Holmes of Groesbeck; sons, Andy Holmes and wife Roni of San Antonio and John Holmes and wife Megan of Groesbeck; daughter, Lauren Holmes and Chad Mizell of Corsicana; mother, Elenor Holmes of Mexia; brother, Marc Holmes of Donie; sister, Jean Holmes of Fairfield; granddaughter, Charlee Kaye Holmes of Groesbeck and niece, Reagan Bates and husband Larry of Mexia.
