Juana Garay

Juana Garay passed away, November 6, 2016, at her home in Mexia at the age of 85. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Anselmo Garay, Johnathan Garay, John Paul Lopez, Adrian Torrez, Jesse Garay and Rigoberto Castro will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Juana was born in El Tigre Villanueve Zacatecas, Mexico to Jostenes Jimenez Tinado and Inez Frias. She had been a resident of Mexia for several years and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Juana was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, her family was her pride and joy. She was strong in her faith. She enjoyed cooking (was a great cook), crocheting, sewing and loved flower gardening, especially, roses.

Juana is survived by her loving children, Simona Jimenez, Esperanza Gomez, Olga Torrez, Martha Lopez, Anselmo Garay, Hortencia Castro and Sonia Garay; grandchildren, Johnathan Garay, Candy Robles, John Paul Lopez, Daisey Gonzalez, Alejandra Lopez, Jesse Garay, Freddie Garay, David Torrez, Adrian Torrez, Cindy Torrez, Zulema Castro, Rigoberto Castro, Maximino Castro, Jr. Junior Gomez, Apolinar Gomez, Saturnino Jimenez, Jr., Fabian Jimenez, Corina Jimenez and Lucia Jimenez; and siblings, Jose Roman of Groesbeck, Emilia Reyes of Mexia and Angela Del Real of Mexico.
